Review: Embryolisse Lait Crème Concentre Review (now at Target!)

Finally being able to find the Embryolisse Lait Crème Concentre at my local Target was a huge thing for me a few weeks ago! I’ve been wanting to try this moisturizer for years, as I’ve constantly heard raves about it from a variety of European beauty bloggers. Especially since starting Tazorac and having to deal with the resulting dryness, I’ve thought a lot about getting my hands on this product.

Now that I’ve had a chance to use it for the last few weeks, I’m not sure what I was expecting. This product does a good job of moisturizing and absorbs well; I haven’t had any of the greasiness that some people mention in their reviews. I’ve also seen some criticism about the fragrance which took me aback because whatever fragrance there is in the product– it’s extremely subtle and I don’t see anything in the ingredients that jumps out at me as being irritating. As a matter of fact, the ingredient list is pretty simple and I think for a lot of people– that’s a great thing. It’s a good product that does what it claims without a bunch of questionable ingredients known to irritate skin. The packaging is well done, too, and protects the cream from both light and oxygen, which are two things known to decrease a product’s effectiveness. And it is a cream– the consistency surprised me a little despite the name as I thought it might be less an opaque white and more transparent or gel-like because I was already comparing this to another product in my head.

While I’d been pining for this product, I found CeraVe– a moisturizer that has served me more than well during my Tazorac peeling days, and that I still use every night and every morning. Had I found Embryolisse first– I honestly may not have ever thought to try CeraVe. But I did try CeraVe first, and I have to say that while I’ll continue to work Embryolisse into my skincare routine, I’m still on the fence about whether or not I’ll repurchase it. When it comes to CeraVe– I’ve repurchased it regularly and it has become my holy grail moisturizer.

Where ingredients count– what might change my mind moving forward is a criticism that I’ve had about CeraVe from the beginning– Cerave’s formula includes parabens where Embryolisse’s does not. While CeraVe is cheaper, ingredients are something that can definitely sway me. Parabens aside, CeraVe also contains a variety of ingredients known to benefit skin such as hyaluronic acid and ceramides. So– this one isn’t yet decided. Suspense!

If you have anything to add to this review, please leave it in the comments! I’d also love to hear from people who have tried both Embryolisse and Cerave. Thanks for reading!
