SheaMoisture: Olive & Green Tea with Avocado Body Wash, Argan Oil and Raw Shea Dry Oil Mist and Bath, Body and Massage Oil

Today a friend emailed me to ask about paraben-free body lotions, specifically wanting to know if I could recommend a drugstore brand, and I was so irritated with myself because this post was sitting in my draft folder instead of on my blog! I just got home from work and am determined to finish it now, as I know that the colder months will only bring further inquiries.

Without further ado: SheaMoisture is one of my favorite drugstore brands, hands down. I love the brand’s story (read here), ingredients and products– which is rare for me. For the most most part, I have stayed within the confines of SheaMoisture’s lotions and oils, but I am also eager to give their new makeup line a try. If anyone is already using their makeup, let me know your thoughts in the comments!

At the moment, I’m using three Sheamoisture products on a regular basis and thought I would share a little about each.

SheaMoisture Dry Oil

SheaMoisture Argan Oil and Raw Shea Dry Oil Mist

The dry oil mist works perfectly during the warmer months when my skin needs a little daytime hydration help. I also love the Argan Oil & Raw Shea with Frankincense and Myrrh line; it is my favorite of their scents so far. As I said above, I tend to use the dry oil mist in the morning by spraying myself down and then rubbing the oil into my skin.

However, I had a bout of allergy-induced eczema over the summer and the dry oil mist wasn’t enough. I went to Target to see if there was something else from Sheamoisture that I could use and found the Bath, Body & Massage oil in the same fragrance.

SheaMoisture Massage Body Oil

Let me start by telling you that it took a bit of effort to rub into my skin and I stood around waiting for it to absorb for quite a while. I kept rubbing one shin against the other to see if it was still tacky. I waited so long for that feeling to go away that I finally reached down with my hand to see exactly how much oil was still on the surface of my skin but realized that the oil had already absorbed and that silky feeling was my skin itself, not excess oil. Yes, and that feeling lasted almost the entire day. It took me a while to get used to that feeling, and it might not be something that everyone will enjoy. For those of us with skin so dry that it itches and flakes on a good day, this is amazing and my go-to product for dry-skin days. Plus, it takes a lot less time to absorb than you might initially think.

SheaMoisture Oil Body Wash

This last product is sitting in my shower as I type. Last year I was given an expensive bottle of shower oil and fell in love with it. Then I found out that SheaMoisture had a similar product and did a little dance. This is the most moisturizing body wash that I have ever used in my life. While I tend to switch up my products on a regular basis, this will not be one of them. I have heard from people that they find this scent to be overwhelming but I can’t say that it’s true for me. The scent is pleasant and fades away easily under my lotion.Overall, it’s just an easy product to recommend.

If you have a favorite paraben-free drugstore brand, let me know in the comments! And if you have any product recommendations, be sure to leave those, too!
